“Heidi's Song” ~ Thank you Tom

I first met
Tom Grant, both figuratively and literally, in October of 1986. At the time I was working for the Portland Trailblazers. I had just started working there, and the daughter of the then General Manager, Harry Glickman, invited me to go to a party. It was a season kickoff party, for the 1986-1987 NBA basketball season, and it was at the River Place Hotel. During a break in between sets, Jennifer introduced me to Tom. After listening to him play, and his genuine warmth when he talked to you, and his smile, I was a fan. But, if you never get a chance to meet Tom, that is okay, just let his music talk to you.

I lived in PDX for 13 years, and made it a point to see him at least once a year, sometimes four times a year. Every time that I went to see him, he always said: "Hello" or "How are you?" Thank you Tom, thank you even more for the music!

You can read about Tom on his MySpace page, or his home page, so I won't do a bio blog. But, if you are in the mood for some keyboard jazz (some of his song's are great to have sex by), give him a chance.

Make sure you listen to: "Heidi's Song", "Edge of the World", Don't Wait for Night", "Angels Crossing", and many more…..

RECOMENDATION: Turn the lights off, light some candles, put about six Tom Grant CD's in the changer, open a bottle of wine (or two), call a favorite or new lover, mix all and serve hot. If all goes well, the repeat function on your CD player will be required.

FYI: The River Place Hotel is on the west bank of the Willamette River on the southern edge of downtown PDX. If you go to Portland make sure you stop by. You can take a nice stroll on the boardwalk, and see if anyone live music is going on, who knows, maybe another Tom Grant!
